Our Impact

Following our early support, many projects go on to change the system by transforming opportunities for young people on a national scale and influencing policy.

BIG CHANGE TAKES TIME

In 2013...

We backed Frontline's pilot stage, and it is now England's largest social work charity. They have trained 2,400 new social workers, reaching over 150,000 families across England. And 82% of these social workers stay in the profession. Frontline's founder, Josh MacAlister, went on to chair the government's Independent Review of Children's Social Care.

In 2014...

We were an early supporter of Voice 21, supporting them to pilot an oracy education programme in just one school in East London. A decade on, they now work with 203,000 students from Jersey to Dunee, in 852 schools. Through their advocaty work and their Big Change-funded Oracy All-Party Parliamentary Group, oracy has featured in cross party education priorities.

In 2017...

We provided early-stage funding to 50 Things To Do Before You’re Five. They now have a presence in 22 local authorities, and are working with approximately 1 in 8 under 5s in these areas. They have also secured over £1m in follow-on funding from the Department for Education.

WE CREATE CHANGE WITH YOUNG PEOPLE

We prioritise young people by listening to their needs and supporting their ideas in every project. Through global conversations, a national listening exercise, and intergenerational policy work, we’ve amplified diverse voices and supported 15 young leaders with funding and capacity building through the Big Education Challenge.

We show a new way is possible

We find and back leaders with projects, and early-stage ideas that positively impact thousands of young people. To date, we’ve backed over 70 projects, lead by visionary changemakers. In 2022, we designed and launched a £1m prize fund to support and fund 15 finalists with bold ideas to transform education and learning systems.

We learn with others and shift mindsets

We collaborate with diverse experts and leaders to drive change. Since 2020, we have co-created and shared the influential New Education Story research and framework. This was developed with cross-sector global partners to understand why, what, and how to create system change.

Make a difference

Change happens when we connect, learn and act together. We are seeking partners who, like us, want to see long-term impact, not ideas that simply treat the symptoms. Join us creating the collective leadership that can lead to system change and see all young people able to thrive in life.

Help us support all young people, regardless of their background or circumstances, to thrive in life. Together we can spark lasting change.
