Big Changer

Jessica Barratt

Jessica founded Franklin Scholars in 2013 after spending a year developing a similar youth-led education initiative for a local NGO in Mozambique. It was here that Jessica fully realised the potential of young people to support each other in meaningful ways and how much both groups of students get out of it. In a previous life, Jessica had a whirlwind career as an Artist Manager for Warner Music, and set up Mind The Gap, a mentoring scheme that connected disadvantaged young people with creative industry professionals, and empowered them to design and promote cutting edge community events.

A firm believer in the power of young people to be the drivers of social change, Jessica is on a mission to transform the prospects of some of our most vulnerable children by mobilising and equipping talented students around the country to support the children that need it most, when they need it most – at the precarious transition from primary to secondary school.
